    We have over 90 servers, about 1250 pcs (including laptops, tablets etc) & about 6500 users across 5 sites

    2500 students, 300 staff, 1500 devices, 10 servers

    2 full time (me as senior tech and another tech)
    1 term time plus 3 helpdesk op/firstline/far more competent than she lets on tech.
    1/2 a term time tech that we share with media dept.

    I look after what would normally be done by a network manager except I have no budget and no HR responsibilities (apparently) I also look after stage/av/recording/lighting
    My Tech looks after our websites and most other webby things. as well as backups and server builds
    Helpdesk lady does firstline support, toners, ordering, second line support when no-one else can
    Our half a tech does some of the things that helpdesk does and some of the things that I do with regards AV/Stage etc as well as media lesson support

    Le Edit: We have 3 schools to support in that user count, all of which are physically separate.

    1 x IT Tech (Me)
    1 x Network Manager

    Me: Programming, Web, Custom Services, iPads, Help Desk, Support etc
    Manager: Manager Roles (Babysitting me :P, Performance Management, budget etc), Helpdesk, Project Planning, Support, Servers, Infrastructure etc

    We work well as a team and most of our roles come together, besides Servers and iPads

    14 servers (Several of which are virtual), 700+ PCs, 49 iPads, 2 digital signage

    Interesting thread

    Theres 4 of us at the moment:

    • Strategic ICT Manager (Full Time) - Takes overall department responsibility, paperwork, manages network, development, etc
    • ICT Technician/Me (Full Time) - Develop and maintain the website and vle, email, manage the Mac network, assist managing the windows network, networking, supports drama and theatre dept with light and sound kit, help the other two techs when needed
    • ICT Technician (Full Time) - Deals with the hardware support side of things mainly, does most of the out and about day to day stuff, projector bookings, hardware installs, etc
    • Trainee ICT Technician (Part Time) - deals with most enquiries that come in to the office/helpdesk (and directs them where applicable), does the out and about day to day stuff, etc


    What we ultimately do each day depends on how busy we are really.

    We support around 1630 students, 160 staff, 600 computers, about 25-30 servers, 35 ipads amongst other bits and pieces.

    * Two physical hosts with another redundant for DR (about a dozen servers split between them);
    * ~250 desktops;
    * ~50 laptops;
    * ~40 tablets lurking around the place;
    * ~25 printers;
    * ~800 users.

    So we're quite small for a secondary, as a result it's me with overall responsibility for the lot supported by @ElBrontus.

    My focus is avoiding a stroke before I'm 30. His focus is avoiding work. < (TROLLOLOLOL... :P )

    We both share a focus on coffee and an avoidance of anything AV-related. Added to that is a love of automation (re avoiding work) and a hatred of printers.

    Occasionally the Site Team will poach my Technician for a while. I will then poach their coffee for a while.

    1x technician (me) - pretty much everything
    1x network manager - making coffee and flitting about (quick censor my name!! lol )

    We support currently 1300 users, 600 PC's, 200 laptops, 12 servers (some virtual), CCTV system, AV systems (we had a separate techy for this but he retired and wasn't replaced). And pretty much anything else you can plug in

    There's me (NM) and an apprentice. Network is around 450 devices and 900 users; Around 30 physical and virtual servers. We also offer support services to our adjoining infant school. We support everything you'd expect, although a new role was created to remove responsibility for things like reprographics, website & VLE development, AV services/social media etc. It's freed us up to be an IT support department again, although I'd ideally like a technician added to the team at some point to allow us to be really proactive in all areas.
