Tosh laptop - 6 days out of warranty - works perfectly except there is no video out. Took it to bits. Re-soldered connector with no luck.
Then I thought about extending the warranty. Yes, said the nice man, perfectly possible and far less expensive than a new mobo.
Hmmm. I was a bit bothered as I thought that as soon as they saw that it had been opened and that a bit had been soldered (although frankly it was very hard to tell), they would reject it. One nice customer service rep said no problem, the other one, said ominously that they would have to look at it and if it was deemed not to be a warranty matter we would have to pay for the repair or pay around £80 to get it back...gulp...
I bit the bullet and did it which wasnt easy as they struggled to take the school's credit card.
Today it came back. Mended!!!!
You know it's a good day when witch gets her pompoms out
(was my fault really as I had to quickly buy two more laptops after a bulk buy and I forgot to get the three year warranty )
