Starting hourly salary for a part time tech

    Hey all,

    Just a quick straw poll:

What is a average hourly rate for a part time tech.
    Duties along the lines of:
    Change print toners
    Reimage PCs
    Change projector bulbs
    install office

Not in London but will need a car to get to work.

    Any thoughts welcome

Something around minimum wage for those sorts of jobs, I'd say?

Would depend on experienece but would say if your just starting out then education establishments will not be paying much above minimum wage.

For the school I work for, being under 18 it's 5 an hour. For a few private companies I freelance for, its 10 an hour with daily cap at 70.

Sometimes you find yourself doing exactly those sort of duties for more than 14 p/h

Exclusively basic duties though? Probably around 6-8 (in London)

Yeah I was still doing that lot as part of my duties when I was at the top of the Senior Office 2 banding, along with configuring sans, servers, voip etc.

difficult to explain to somone with a blow bulb that the entire voice calling cluster is experiencing outages on it's trunk and you need to focus on fixing that..

Those duties...7 an hour, max. Still clocks in at about 50 a day which is not bad by any means (1000 a month on a fulltime wage).

I don't know about average, but we currently have a vacancy at around 22,000 per year, which works out just over 10 per hour.
