HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 G1610t

I'm thinking of buying a HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 G1610t and stuffing it full of 16GB RAM and SSDs to use as a home media server. Good idea? Has anyone on here got one of these?

I have a number of the N40Ls at home and at work and they're very good machines.

Same, also have two N54Ls at home one as a file server other as a web/dev server. Does the G8 officially support 16GB RAM or do you need to flash the BIOS like you do with the previous version? It would be nice if newver versions had a better Hardware RAID support - only supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 AFAIK. I currently have the 320GB disk included as a boot disk with 3x 2TB disks in Windows Server 2008 RAID5.

You can get £164.00 cashback with this offer...

Simply purchase the HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 (724145-425 or 712317-421) combined with the PS1810-8G switch (J9833A) during the promotional period, complete the claim form below and HP will refund £109.00 cash back making the switch absolutely free.

In conjunction with this offer, purchase both qualifying HP Care Pack Services (UR482E and HU349E) and HP will refund you £55, making the switch care pack free, too!
