because ctrl alt del would be interpreted by the real pc not the remote and end is usually near del on a keyboard (next key over here)

    Interesting aside...

It was [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[ESC] on my old CPC
    [CTRL]+[BREAK] on the BBC Micro
and [CTRL]+[AMIGA]+[AMIGA] on the, er, Amiga (I was tempted to put Atari ST )

Of the three I think Micro predates the IBM PC by a year? I wonder where this practice originates from?

To be honest, I don't mind the CTRL+ALT+DEL but there are a lot of less-used keys on the keyboard - Function keys for example that were pretty critical back in the days of command line GUIs but I for one never use the 'Scroll lock' button so I think some of the lesser-used keys could have been repurposed into a login combo - Esc + F1 for example.

I am suddenly really tempted to replace my signature with this:

The only thing stopping me is how annoying flash GIFs are out of the corner of your eye.

Resave it in paint. [IIRC that strips out the animation.]

But it wouldn't be right without the animation!

If I could get the sound of the floppy drive loading to play every time someone loaded one of my posts as well, I would.

Aw man... Large animated gifs and play-on-load sound.

What is this, GeoCities? [Or Angelfire]

Next you'll be wanting special cursors and horizontal scrolling text banners.

marquee tag + IE glow filter to drag everyone's CPU usage down and destroy their browsers.

I may or may not have done this in a past life in certain HTML enabled chatrooms.
