I have been involved in a fair few appointments at primary.
    • Child protection is probably going to be a high if not highest priority. Every candidate for every post here is asked about they would do in certain situations. For me, the best answer has always been along the lines of making sure you know the school policies so you know how to react, who to contact etc. A good thing to read up is the right way to handle a child making a disclosure to you.
    • In the same vein, esafety will probably be a big priority as well.
    • As said above you will be expected to be a generalist. A sensible interviewer will realise that you can't know everything about everything so its important to demonstrate that you can turn your hand to anything and pick up things quickly when needed.
    • On similar lines, you will be viewed as the 'expert' on anything technical (eg you will be the 'MIS expert' )
    • The budget is likely to be small. Can you demonstrate working on a tight budget?
    • The technical tests can vary. For me the most important thing to see is not whether you have fixed the issue but demonstrated good prioritisation and problem solving skills. I know some people feel insulted by being asked to fix minor problems but that's not what they were being scrutinised for
