    Verifying the new number should involve checking via the old number - if someone had changed the number illegitimately, they'd also be able to "verify" it themselves...

    No it's the fact that if someone had got access to my online banking yes before they could transfer money out of my account they would need to add a number to do so and wait 3 days but then texting that number that has been added the scammer would just think great I've just got to wait.

    Sending a text to the number in no way confirms it's me does it? if they rang me on that number and got me to go through security then it would.

    They got into your OLB which is secure ? Do they not text the old number as well to say a change has been made at the same time?

    I'm not saying it's very probable but still they should ring me on the new number and do a security check, what would be the point in txting the old number? I no longer have it.

    Just because I look after my olb details doesn't mean everyone does though does it?
