General Chat Thread, Lloyds TSB Down? in General; Natwest have an excellent on-line banking site and ipad app if anyone does fancy a change....

    Considering the problems that Natwest have had with their IT systems recently, that's the last place I'd put my money

    Agreed the Windows Phone app is ace for them really like it and I work down the road from them so if it all goes Pete Tong I'll just take a walk at lunch time and go shout at someone

    Never had a problem myself. Their Ipad app is world class

    I also love the way you can open a new account on the web banking site without needing to go into a bank.

    @zag - they sound very good, don't suppose you know what they're like for managing joint current/savings accounts online do you? Lloyds TSB are rubbish at this - you have to apply in branch, which is fair enough for the initial account set up but not for every time you want to set up a new savings account!

    HSBC's Fast Balance app is the best! Their customer service is ace. When some robbing scumba* stole 600 quid by buying a plane ticket in India they phoned me within 5 minutes. (I had to phone them back as I was working in the server room and had a server half hanging off). I got my money back within 7 days

    Has anyone noticed in the midst of trying to login to online banking*, that whoever did the logo on the front page hasn't heard of antialiasing (and subsequently making the website look unprofessional?)




    *Not me though as i'm with Nationwide.

    As long as you have done the trip to the bank once with your life history, bills, birth cert, passport etc..... (you get the drill) AND you have online banking it seems fine for me, I have opened 2 or 3 ISA, a number of savings and current accounts with Natwest now no issues. So should work fine unless they have something silly for Joint Account customers.

    It took close to seven years to complete the merger of the lloyds and tsb systems. Then they bolted HBOS on the side (with sellotape and a prayer).

    And now they've demerged them in just a couple of years. I doubt they will ever really have worked the snags out of that project.

    Metro bank are a brand new entrant, I read a really good article on how they could build their IT systems from scratch and this gave them a massive advantage over the other banks.

    hmm lol fail.

    I just changed my mobile phone number on the tsb internet banking site as they have to call you and get a security number when you set up a new payment, the screen says for security reasons it will be 3 days before you can use this number to verify a payment, ok gret.

    Just got a text to that new number saying "Alert: Your Internet Banking phone numbers were changed on the 10/09 at 10:15. If you DID NOT do this call........."

    Hmm yeah ok.

    I fail to see the issue? They won't let you use it to authorise a payment but don't say they won't contact you on it to confirm it is you etc... or have they now called you with the security code to that number which is then a fail?
