Got my job evaluation through telling me what grade i am etc, but i dont understand what its all about????
Apparently im a Grade D, on minimum £13,854pa SCP 11 - max £14,523pa SCP 13
So whats that mean; Unless i get promoted to NM im a grade D and cant be payed anymore than £14,523? And whats SCP mean?
I get 2 days extra holiday a year, woopti-fookin-doo, id rather be payed a decent wage.

SCP = Spinal Column Point. So given the info you have Grade D = SCP 11 - 13. You cannot jump a grade without a job review/evaluation by your line manager. These should happen every 6 months.

If this is the same thing we are going tough then there should be more usefull info here. From what I understand they are stoping useing Spinal Column Point and moving to grades with points.

Re: Just got a letter about Single Status through
All councils are doing a similar thing, we went through it in July (my bottom still feels sore from the treatment I got).
Geoff - we can't actually jump grades even with evaluations, once the grade is locked into a job title, that's it. End of story.
Essentially it makes most council jobs dead-end, which is why I hope to move soon.

So assuming the higher ones is actually for the NM, and the lower one is the technician, im still on a considerably lower grade.
Also ive been told all along, and it also says on the above website, that any money would be backdated (not that im on a higher pay anyway), but according to the letter ive just got its not getting backdated.

I dont suppose anyone fancys sharing what grade they got given?
Would deffinatly give me more leverage as if what Halfmad says about being locked in is true ill be handing my notice in very soon if they wont move me up.
Who's responsible for choosing the grades? I thought it was at a national level, but if that was the case why is an IT tech in Nottingham on a considerably higher grade than me?

A number of jobs seem to be missing from the job list. I also have a problem with the job evaluation in that half of what I do isn’t on it. But we are only at the start of the project and the heads still finding out what it involves.
For some strange reason all the staff where told before management (letters sent home and on wired). Now management have no idea what’s going on as they are not being told anything until later this week.

Sorry yes you can head just needs to justify the upgrade by saying you take on these extra jobs etc etc.

Single status is not national pay wage that is still being sorted out.
Single status is to bring people in same county in line with each other.

Cheers. I just wish our council/LEA/whoever knew its head from its... Speaking to anyone about this topic over the last 2years has only resulted in "Err.. I dunno".
So who decided my grade then? The council/LA or the Head?

It must be a Lancashire thing then, because that's the system we have here.

We use to be able to "accelerated progression" but they've scrapped it as too many people were getting pay rises out of it!

And it usually involves a change of job title also... So you could become 'Uber IT manager'.
