Well hopefully that will help. When i did the survey and highlighted my roles to SMT they didnt really want to know and said "this is only for your *main* role, extras dont count"

Ill have to play it by ear but Im responsible for all the sound and lighting equipment, have a massive part in online exams (ALAN), do staff training, Im the school photographer, i could go on but i wont. Surerly all of this doesnt come under IT technician plus "Do as the Head asks"

And it usually involves a change of job title also... So you could become 'Uber IT manager'.

So in summery someone* has decided im a grade x and the only way of getting moved up is to appeal, or change job title.

The lead decide they are going to use x system for example Hayes system for the review.

They do a pre-questionnaire thing that goes out to staff it goes back to group who decide where stuff lays at what grade based on guidelines of system they are using.

Group is made up of lea, unions, heads, union reps, staff.

Talk to your union about it.
