how to set proxy for explorer.exe

Hiya

Im just wondering if any one could help me, we running squid and all the kids account go through the box using a proxy so that we can filter the internet, but if the kids goes on to "my computer " and then type in webaddress it lets then use other proxy which we use for staff . so im asking is there any way setting a proxy for explorer.

Really? because here it just uses IE to render the page and uses it's settings.

I always thought that explorer followed the proxy settings as defined in IE. Is that locked via group policy?

i also thought it should pick the proxy that IE had but for some reason it does not, i tested a few pages with IE and there were blocked but when i tested then with explorer the worked fine.

Does the proxycfg (run in dos) setting have any bearing on this?

i have not used proxycfg before, i ran the command and it said im not going through a proxy. how to do i make it go through the proxy?

It tells me I'm not going through a proxy too but my explorer.exe does follow the IE settings for our proxy.

Maybe they installed a different browser and then set that as default which changed the proxy? :?

We have typing any address in the address bar disabled, this is achieved via GPO.
