    I'm going to Inverness in August and forgot these little blighters existed!

    I still remember visiting Fort William as a kid and running through a swarm of bugs that started biting. Ouch!

    You're lucky you came out the other side. Some people run into a cloud of midges and that's the last anyone sees of them...

    best way to keep them at bay if camping, is white smoke (eg ferns!)
    Or a pipe
