    Let's talk about burgers

    So, two of the big US burger places in Five Guys and Shake Shack have opened up branches in London yesterday/today. I will probably go to one of them this evening.

    We're quite spoiled for burger places in London right now; Mother Flipper, Lucky Chip, Meat-Liqour/Market/Mission, Patty & Bun, Bleecker St to name a few.

    So yeah, let's talk burgers.

    I prefer to make my own, then I can guarantee what goes in it. I'll pick up 1lb of mince from the butcher, make either 4 1/4lb burgers, or 8 normal burgers. Freeze what isn't used. I then add a selection of onions, lettuce, tomato, pepper, gurkin, cucumber, garlic, mayo, relish, salsa, hot sauce, bbq sauce etc. I control what goes in, so I am happy.

    yeah I make my own at home, had 7 kg of venison carcass off cuts last month so I've got a decent stock of venison mince in the freezer for burgers at the moment

    This really is the way to do it, I do the same. You can actually then make burgers very healthy and a good source of protein, everybody assumes burgers to be completely unhealthy but if made properly they can be really good.

    But knowing you are one of those skinny people who can eat what they like and not increase in size I see where you are coming from! In my situation its the reverse! I look at a burger and get bigger!

    Love ShakeShack. Did want to visit on Tuesday but then realised the UK branch doesn't open until today .
