Job Advert, out of my league?

    Hi there,

I've seen this Job advertised (below), the salary sounds good (compared to my £19.5k, £17k actual !)

Just wondered if I would be suitable, I have all the experience, a IT based degree and 2 years experience in Primary Schools as an ICT Technician, plus an industrial placement in a school.

However I do not have any other ICT qualifacations, ie Cisco / MCSE etc.

IT Support Analyst £24k - £26k dep. on exp. job ref: XXXXXX
Carrying out 1st and 2nd line support on corporate IT and telephone systems the ideal candidate will have relevant IT skills gained through experience preferably supported by relevant computing courses/qualifications. Initially, the role will concentrate on workstation support evolving to dealing with critical systems and server related work following demonstration of the required technical ability.

The fact I already deal with servers should be a bonus based on that descriptions. The company is an small insurance company.

The key thing is relevant experience, and you have that. Go for it.

Buy and MCP/MCSE book(s) and say you are currently working towards the qualifications in your own time. Shows willingness to progress / improve your knowledge.

Go for it as you have nothing to loose but alot to gain. I am am currently looking for another job am finding that with out any certs even over 7 years experience doesn't count for much these days.

Dont see why not. Except when I think of 1st line and 2nd line I generally think it's going to be mostly telephone support.

    Could be wrong though
