What do you mean by damage?

    Examples?
Smartboards use 2 membranes. If something heavy or sharp is thrown at the board, or the board is stabbed the membranes are either jammed together or puntured causing the same effect. Generally this is a BER fault and the whole board has to be replaced. We have had one punctured and managed to repair it but apparently this is a rare case. Not wanting to scare people off them as I think they are great and we have them throughout with only that one problem but we are a pretty quiet school. If your school has some more lively classes then it may not be worth the risk.

TechMonkey, we have what might be termed a 'lively' school, but it is still SmartBoard for us!

We do have two Promethean Boards, but they have not been greeted with joy - the pen nibs wear out, the pen is lost, the pen is never left with the board cos the teacher packs it in their bag by mistake ...! :?

The SmartBoards just keep on working!

We use Promethian boards and Toshiba projectors. Teacher love them. As for damage, we use the ".. it'll cost £2000 chargeable to your department.." talk - they soon get the idea to look after them.

We use Promeathean boards throughout, not saying they are the best but we have kept them consistant. We haev 20 of the new +2 boards and apart from a few PSU issues (must have been a faulty batch) - they was an article on here a couple of days ago from HSE so I would recommend going for the short throw projectors where possible.

I'd like to add to my post that I'm now also really really enjoying NEC Projectors, Ive got an excellent supplier thats local to me that supports me very well with them, not that I've had any issues anyway and they seem very well built and good flexible options on keystoning etc

Smartboard, unless you evisage furniture being bounced off it.

Projectors, we've got a lot of NEC VT58s, which are fine. We've also got Tosh T95s, because they match the throw distance of the HPs they replaced.

Mimio or eBeam still, although you could always make your own from a Wii.
