    Re: Your opinions please

Sounds like when i had my first week off in 18 months and got called in on the 3rd day cus they couldnt download the exam results... i got 1/2 day back on holiday... i was in for 4 hrs, travelling for nearly 3...

and i DONT get paid to be on call, especially when on holiday

as for the phone issue, refuse to support them, stick by yer guns.

    Re: Your opinions please

    This is an eye-opener!

We just upgraded our systems to an IP telephone system and were told that we wouldn't be getting the "roaming" phones. I too have to use my mobile phone. That's not all though. We also have to support the bloody things- and *that* wasn't in my job description either (I'm not a telecoms engineer but am fast learning the pitfalls of alcatel equipment).

I would take the advice given here.

I wish I had read this thread before giving out my own mobile number to staff!!!

    Paul :-(

Wouldn't a set of PMR 446 radios be cheaper than phones for everyone? THe network manager and me have personal mobiles but never use them for work purposes, we're lucky to have a phone in each of our work areas (although 2 phone types - one with a nice LCD screen and one without, guess which one I got? )

Nobody should be expected to use and pay for their own phone's use for work.

    Re: Your opinions please

i dont mind staff phoning me up from home cos thats usually cash related lol.
I take exception to my boss phoning me up at all hours of the day/evening. but he does. although i havent got a landline phone atm (amongst other things) and my mobile is usually on discreet so i've foiled him for the moment.

    Re: Your opinions please

No signal over most of the school so they can`t reach me on my mobile.

    .....so they bought radios.............

    no signal in server room.

.....and I can`t hear the phone ring unless I`m right next to it

    TeeHee
