    I'm hoping this is one of those fancy ideas for cost cutting that never comes to fruition.

    I see all those consumer devices are going to be 3G for cloud access with the reliance on the cell providers, good idea.

    But in this new anti-IT utopia, are domain controllers even needed? All my iPad needs to know is the login details for google apps and facebook...

    I think he's wrong, and it's the wrongness born of not knowing what is involved in running an IT system. It's a disease which sadly afflicts practically every person who reaches management level.

    Pretty sure we saw the same guff about 5 years ago, yet here we all are. The job changes, but it still needs doing, by pretty much the same people, with the same job title. Nothing to see here.

    Who sets ups/manages the infratructure that allows you to connect to google apps and facebook? Or are you using your own 3g?

    This stuff comes around every so often - usually advanced by people with something to gain if the industry went this way (remember the paperless office? We are still drowning in paper).
