I'd be happy with Idris Elba. He just came up in our 'next doctor conversation' in the office. You need someone with gravtias for the serious roles and I'm not sure someone like richard could pull that off. Of course, who wouldn't want the Cumberbatch (eh little-miss ?) he would be perfect, but I fear he is already far too well known. I'd love to see Mark Heap (AKA Brian from Spaced) give it a try, he's just about odd enough to pull it off

Thing is, you need someone comedic to balance the horror - it is a kids show after all!

It will most likely be some obscure, unknown actor like Matt Smith was at the time. I'd be surprised if they don;t already have someone specific in mind to take over the role.

Corden? Please, God, no. Can't stand the man. Might have to stop watching for his tenure.

    Richard in particular!
Idris probably too big (especially if Pacific Rim does the business). I like the idea of Richard A, but he's also got his directing career so may not be willing to commit to few years of Who.

Idris Elba is also a mainstay in Thor 2, was a reasonably big roll in Prometheus as well as other films, so I doubt he would downscale especially as he gets around £2mil (for his role in Thor)-£15mil per film (for his role in prometheus)

Corden was in Doctor Who as a side character in a couple of episodes, I can't see them bringing him back as The Doctor.

Had to watch that episode from behind the sofa. Can't bear the Corden schtick. Would have to stop watching if it was him.

I've enjoyed Smith as the Doctor, he was suitably madcap in a way that suited my perception of the Doctor.

I think this last series has been weak but the earlier runs with Amy Pond were ace. I'd say they had some of the best series arcs plotlines - at one point everyone was complaining it was too complicated for people to follow along, I think for the cracks in time/exploding Tardis story, or maybe the Doctor dying in the astronaut suit. RTD's seasons tended to drop one hint a few times without really tying it in just so he could pull out something at the end without it making much sense - e.g. Bad Wolf, or He Will Knock Four Times. Both of those were just mentioned repeatedly without really changing anything until the final episode.

No point in trying to guess who will be the next Doctor, both Smith and Tennant were fairly unknown at time of casting, I suspect this time will be the same. I, for one, would enjoy a run of John Hurt though

Would be awesome if they made a more adult themed Dr who, Dylan Moran or Eddie Izzard would be amazing!

I think it will be a relatively unknown actor

    It's called Torchwood...

Also, Eddie Izzard as The Doctor would be good.
