Matt is the 11th "Doctor" but he's the 12th regeneration.

Hurt did something that makes it so he doesn't have the right to be called "The Doctor" anymore.

I've actually turned episodes off this season rather than watch them to the end! If they pulled a stunt like that I may not bother watching the show again. There's only so many time that Dr Who can "jump the shark" and be forgiven in the name of Sci-Fi!

    Oi. I've done work xD

On a somewhat related note, does anybody else find themselves impatiently drumming the 4-beats whilst waiting for progress bars to move and the like? Or is it just me?

It depends on how they do it.

There's a part of the story missing [the McGann > Eccleston period] and it could be good.

Plus, the Doctor is >900 years old. At some point he's gotta snap at the BS some people/species do.

No, but I just noticed I've been clicking the 4-beats. [I highlight what I read...]

Did anybody see Points of View yesterday? There was a classic video with somebody bemoaning the stories weren't realistic any more.

I always looked at the regeneration thing as a Timelord law rather than a biological barrier, i think the Master got "granted" additional regens for helping the doctor in an old episode, so no Timelord's = no limit to regens.

Unless the special episode involves saving Gallifrey :O

I think the "rumor" about him being a past incarnation between McGann and Ecclestone was from an interview where John Hurst let slip, cant find it now though.

Oh, I agree. Actually I'm hoping that is the story they are planning to tell. It's just this whole - "shit, we messed up the numbering - lets give some BS answer to make it fit" - thing that I'd have a problem with. If he is a regeneration between McGann and Eccleston then at least have the decency to call him "The Doctor" rather than feeding us with some BS as to why the incarnation doesn't count and the Dr isn't quickly running out of lives.

If he was the Valeyard he wouldn't be the doctor any longer. They're the same being but two completely seperate people. Though it'd still count to one of his regens if the limit rule is still in place.

I can only assume that by mucking around inside his own timeline (now a pocket universe or some such), that he will come out of it with a new set of regenerations maybe?

I myself assumed at the end of that episode that Hurt was the "Original" time lord from Gallifrey, who became "The Doctor" after his actions in the time war, that was the "persona" that he took on after his actions there, so Hurt was the "Original" time lord (incarnation Zero) I thought and everything else afterwards was done as "The Doctor".

I also believe what others do in the thread that the series has suffered a lot because of the writing, way too much on Rory and Amy I felt, no real "big baddies" at all, overall I think the writing has been poor for a while, that being said, potentially it looks awesome in November now if they deliver after that episode.
