River Song used all her regeneration power to save the doctor in Nazi Germany, so maybe he has a whole extra timelord's worth of regeneration anyway?

And I think when it was shown on screen
Introducing John Hurt as "The Doctor" - maybe the quotation marks are there to show he isn't really the Doctor as we know him, but something else entirely

The leak is that Hurt is the 9th Doctor - makes sense as we didn't see the The Doctor regenerate into Eccelstone

    How does that sound?
But the Time Lords still 'exist' inside the Time Lock. I'd assume the same for the Daleks (High council/diamond/heartbeat-in-the-head beacon, etc)
So also technically it's not Genocide either, as he didn't kill them, but eh. It seems to me the Doctor sees himself as a murder, as he always describes them as dead. (See Tennant: "They died, Martha. They all died.")

Not to be 'that guy'.. (Okay, I'm being 'that guy')
    For all intents and purposes.

So are we saying that John Hurt is an older 9th Doctor (McGann) having aged? We've never had a Doctor who's aged. Just Colin Baker getting fatter.

No the idea is that McGann regenerated into Hurt and Hurt regenerated into Eccelstone, we just haven't heard the story of the 9th Doctor (Hurt).

    Therefore Eccelstone = 10th Doctor, Tennant = 11th Doctor and Smith = 12th Doctor.

No. Hurt is a NEW doctor.

Or... more like a previously unmentioned regeneration that comes between McGann and Ecclestone.

Then there's the whole he's The Doctor, but he's not "The Doctor"...

Not that I've looked into it (and I don;t even see how it's possible), but is Matt Smith confirmed for the next Season yet? He's not going out of it is he and being replaced by Hurt?
