    Using RM

    Hello Everyone.

I would like to know if there is any training or any way i can test RM software on a network.
I have worked in a college for 5 years as a senior technician, and i am now working in the industry. I am thinking about getting a job back in the education sector, but most of the ones i see use RM on the computers and servers, i have not used this so it puts me at a disadvantaged as i am used to doing everything manually.

you someone point me to some good training info.

    Re: Using RM

You don't *have* to use RM - some network managers like it because it makes their day-to-day tasks easier (or so I'm led to believe).

Personally you can't beat a vanilla setup

    Hi

Where abouts you based as sure I can find someone for you to visit to talk about it.

Arguments about RM will go on for ever all I can say is my view and experience. Reasons we choose RM is mainly it free my time up to deal with what me a network manager should be doing which is strategic stuff, dealing with various external orgs I have to deal with and work associated, advising school how technology can be integrated into education environment. We havn't got time to implement a vanilla network.

imho it takes 8 weeks (approx a summer hols) for a vanilla network to embed and working. I have better use of my time than to do that.

But as said this my view and my experience.

As said let me know where abouts you are?

My argument to the LG was that a RM network would improve my golf handicap. They weren't impressed :-(

    Re: Using RM

I have started as a technician in a school and we have CC3. I think its great and if you follow instructions and do things how you should without trying shortcuts then it seems to work fine for us. I love it.
