I would rather stab myself in the eye's with cocktail sticks steeped in surgical spirit repeatedly than watch this excuse for music!!!

This is only my personal opinion, nothing personal

I am suprised that this contest is still going to be honest, most of its a stitchup nowadays and blatantly so, even moreso I think I am horrified that we pump millions into it with the BBC

Agree that it is a waste of money, however I'll probably still watch it just to snark and pick it apart. Also, the BBC's 'How to win Eurovision' retrospective is quite amusing in my opinion.

Lloyd-Webber, Englebert, Bonnie Tyler??? To be honest, I think we'd have more chance of winning if we fielded George Formby.

I love Eurovision Not the music mind but the kitsch and cheese and politics! It seems unlikely that we will win it again any time soon but you never know.
    .

I don't think it costs millions to show it as its put together by the EBU but if you win it can be expensive to stage it. Rumour has it that when Ireland won it twice (or was it three times ?) in the 80s that it nearly bankrupt the state TV company!

Legalised/promoted xenophobia and racism. Eurovision can do one. Until many of these countries governments/inhabitants grow up and act in a manner fit for the modern world the utopian ideals that suit Eurovision would never work.

    Big Four/Big Five

Since 2000, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain have automatically qualified for the final, regardless of their positions on the scoreboard in previous contests, due to their status of being the four biggest financial contributors to the EBU.[50] As a result, these countries became known as the "Big Four".[72] Germany became the first "Big Four" country to win the contest since the rule was made in 2000, when Lena Meyer-Landrut won the 2010 Contest. On 31 December 2010, it was announced that Italy would automatically qualify into the final, thus joining the other four qualifiers to become the "Big Five".[73] This rule has caused controversy; Turkey withdrew from the 2013 Contest with the status of the "Big Five" being one of the reasons cited.[74]
Eurovision Song Contest - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - it was a big controversy about 5 years back that we plough I think it was about £100 million into that via the BBC (don't quote me on the amount though there)

If it is £100m then that's obscene. We could rebuild ten small schools with that. FFS.

Nobody watches Eurovision for the music, they watch it for the commentary. I think Graham Norton stepped into that role quite well.

I love Eurovision night! Again not for the music but for the wonderful 'drink along with Eurovision' game!
Pick a nation (except your own) make a five litre box of suspiciously strong fruit punch. And take a drink for every single point your nation collects! It soon becomes a great night!
