Hi all
I was wondering if anyone could help with this. I am trying to create a Database with a barcode reader or some software that is not too expensive I am trying to keep and Audit of IT Equipment within the school I am sick of writing down serial number and and trying to find out the warranty date on hardware and software or relocation of equipment. So I am trying to create a Database that will read barcodes and generate barcode labels aswell

Hi
I did this in my Asset management application but it doesn't need any additional software.
Simply buy a bar code reader. The PC picks up the serials as if it had been entered on the keyboard.

Bar code readers just scan the barcode and convert it to the text equivalent. Just nick the librarians - they usually plug into the keyboard socket with a pass-thru for the keyboard
Of course you will need to lug a laptop round (or trundle a computer behind you on wheels :P )
