Re: Is that in my Job Description?
The school's alarm system: No - but have got a call from the office asking who is in charge of this - as if I know!
The heating system: What's one of these then?!
The CCTV system: Yup - one of our rotating cameras froze one day - was called to have a look & try and fix it. When I suggested rebooting the system there was panic - well, it fixes the majority of problems doesn't it? So I went ahead & done it anyways - worked a treat!
The telephones: Yup - staff mobile phones also
Make a personal purchase on Amazon for a staff member as it's 'too complicated': Been there - done that. Also helped a cleaner book flights & arrange a hire car for her holiday in Spain. Nearly also had to submit a claim via email for a cleaner who wanted to make a holiday insurance claim.
Teacher's home wifi: Yup - "my wireless is broken" - ah right, whats wrong? "can't get on youtube" lol.
Teacher's own/kid's/granny's home pc: Managed to slice my finger open & require several stitches while opening the razor sharp casing of a teachers home computer. Nice.
Photocopiers: Not a tea break / lunch break goes by without being asked to help someone remove a paper jam, feed sheets through the copier for them as it jams when they do it (lol) or even give them a pin code reminder. Working in the same room as them is a pain sometimes!
Sewing Machines: No thank goodness - that would be the last straw
Other (please provide details for our entertainment): mmm, I'm trying to think of some more here....

I get off lightly.. just the CCTV here (but only the network bit of it). Although I did have to set up a mail franking machine once (and made a note of the PIN incase I ever had to send a parcel special delivery)
Oh.. then there's being dragged to London *shudder* for BETT every year :?

I'd imagine many of us are 'responsible' for anything that looks 'technical', I'm sure some of us teach too, whereas others sorta do some site-manager type stuff, who here is a SIMS officer or a data admin? Anyone here done the job of admissions?
When you're fulfilling the job role of every other member of staff and singlehandedly running the school you have to wonder why you're paid as little as you are

The heating system has to be the oddest one.
The only ones I have not been asked to look at are the CCTV system and Sewing Machines. Mostly as we don’t have them. Not had Amazon but have had E-bay.
”Other (please provide details for our entertainment).”
I once had to rescue computers from the swimming pool area. Pretty sure that’s not in my job description. I didn’t half look out of place walking into a swimming area dressed smartly. Not to mention the embarrassment factor with all the female staff.
One of the teachers had a bright idea or it might have been the teachers TA. They decided to make room in their classroom for a party by putting computers on trolleys and wheeling them into the swimming area. Not just in the swimming area but right next to the swimming pool, which was full. If that wasn’t bad enough the whole room was hot and steamy, well you all know what indoor swimming pools are like.
Plenty of others like taking kids horse riding and another time a walk around Sherwood pines.

You have a swimming pool? Lucky you. If we had one at least I'd have somewhere to drown people by holding their heads under water....
