Beat me too it. Was about to say Trichinosis not being present in British pork. If I do eat raw pork, it is often the bacon, or ham slices which I would eat raw, and often I brine my pork so I can put it in the fridge and carve away as and when.

British bacon does not have to come from British pigs. It only needs to have been cured in this country, the pig could have come from anywhere.

That's where reading the label is key - for example all Co-op bacon DOES come from British pigs

Interesting to know that about pork! Thanks for the info. I was just going on what I'd been told by parents when learning how to cook.

I only buy meat from my local butcher, as I know him very well (his son has been my neighbour for the past 6 years), and I know the farms where he gets his meat from, so the "british bacon" argument is moot for me. I know my food chain right the way back to source. The only things I don't know the entire chain are soft drinks and juices (like orange or apple).

Fruit, veg, meat, dairy etc, I know the entire chain.

    Pasta I make my own
Cereal I buy in oats from a local farm and make my own muesli with (sometimes home grown) home dried apricots, grapes, or whatever is in season.

@localzuk my dad was a meat inspector, for some reason I remember having a discussion with him about Trichinosis.

Cars can take shortcuts, buses have a fixed route that usually go further than they have to.

That was my first answer, but no, apparently both the bus and the car take the same route and the question still stands

Do you think they mean time rather than distance? The bus has to stop so even if it takes the same route it will be slower?
