Interview Questions for Head of ICT?
Theoretically if you were asked to compose some questions for a Head of ICT role what kind would you ask? Many times lots of decisions get made without input from IT but what if you did have a say. What kind of things would you want to know from a tech prospective rather than solely a teaching one?

"Would you expect to have any sort of management position over day-to-day IT and the NM or technicians?"
That's a good one to spot if you're going to have issues, with someone coming in expecting to 'take charge' of IT.

"Do you know what administrative privileges are, and why I won't be letting you have them?"
Perhaps asked less pointedly, but it's something I see complained about on here a lot. Might be more politely phrased as "how do you see your working relationship with IT support?" Ideal answer to recognize that ultimately, they are just another customer for you and are no more special than any other department, even if we share an acronym. Nightmare answer would include offers to help out with their "expertise".

Ask about budgets, how they would split the budget? how would they budget for upgrades, renewal cycle etc.

Indeed I'm looking at this more from the role of their interfacing between the ICT team and the teachers/students to represent the educational needs and requirements.

Where I used to work, there were a Head of ICT and a Network Manager, but they were not working with each other, this means that a lot of technical strategy was not aligned with curriculum strategy and vice versa e.g. Excessive software installations without considering the learning objective, Wireless installation were not consulted properly with interests party and ICT equipments were not suitable for children usages.
If I did have a say, I would ask the Head of ICT whether she/he can work with technical staff and providing constructive input regarding the improvement of ICT curriculum, so the Network Manager can work alongside with the Head of ICT, so he/she can strategically plan which area can be improved prior to the implementation of the ICT curriculum.
