Watching Star Wars for the first time - What Order?

I've decided I'm gonna watch Star Wars for the first time to see what all the Jedi fuss is about. So, for those in the know, what order should I watch it in? The original 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 or The new 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6?

    4,5 and 6 only.
The others aren't worth bothering with.

I recently watched it in something called Machete Order which might be interesting, made me forget about Episode 1, even though it was the first I ever saw (I'm still a young'un, don't hurt me for that :P)

Basic idea is that you watch IV, V, II, III, VI. In order to follow Luke's story with the Vader reveal kept quiet until the end, but still introducing Anakin as a character. They cut out episode one because it's not really necessary, you see it from the start of his training, rather than his rescue from Tatooine.

More in depth and a few other orders here: Star Wars: Machete Order

    4;5,6;1,2,3,4,5;6.

Best to watch it the way it was told first then watch the pants newer ones again to fill in the gaps

I have a feeling you'll be able to tell people's age from their reply.

I'd do them in the order of film release, i.e. books 4, 5 and 6 followed by 1, 2 and 3.

I'm old enough to remember going to the ABC in Harrogate with my school mates to see the first one

Oh and remember you can't ever erase Jar Jar Binks from your memory, no matter how hard you try to forget, he'll still be there...

Forget the films, just watch The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Watch 4,5,6 then head on over to redlettermedia and let plinkett fill you in on the prequels. 100 times better, 'what's wrong with your face'

Since you have waited this long, you might as well wait until episodes VII, VIII and IX are out.
