    How dangerous and lazy

    I just passed a car going to work to see a driver with snow all over his front window screen with only a 20 by 10 cm gap made to look out of. looked like a giant snow ball was coming at me.

    Its a car not a tank. When people leave snow on the roof as well it flies at the car behind.

    Hope they get pulled over and fined for dangerous driving. Its stupid. It only takes a few minutes to get snow off a car, its not like they're huge or something.

    A few mins?! Nononono...

    I was stuck at home scraping off the snow & ice for a good 30 mins, even with de-icer! I do agree though, it's stupid to drive with a tiny bit of vision. Should be given points.

    It took me 10 minutes to sweep 15cm of snow off my car this morning. I use a soft broom.

    I find it amazing that we get a bit of snow and drivers immediately forget how to park in the bays at the railway station. It's pretty easy for the first car to line up with the kerb, and the rest of the cars to line up with the one next to it.

    Isn't it illegal to drive round with more than 6cm of snow of the roof of your car now? or is that just a rumour I heard?

    Not sure, but it's certainly stupid.

    Easy way to think of it, as I found out this Sunday morning.

    I had a good 4 inches on my boot (saloon). My handy scraper-offer device is in the boot. No problem. Key in, turn, lift open. LLLLLIFT open. Ok, maybe not. Both hands and ALL my strength and I could not open this boot. That means the weight of that snow on the boot and a little from the back windscreen must have been a hell of a weight - probably equal to a passenger. More passengers/weight you have, higher fuel consumption and running costs, higher wear.
    Fuel costs are bad enough as it is!

    I think it might be illegal due to the danger of the snow sliding down over the windscreen if you stop or slow down.

    Not to mention falling off behind you (or to the side in the case of corners) and hitting other driver's windscreens - thus potentially causing accidents there...

    Heated front windscreen FTW - I have a Ford Focus. My Ice clearing process is as follows:

    Get into car

    Turn engine on, put windscreen to quick-clear, turn on 'heated front windscreen', turn on iPod.

    Listen to music for 3 minutes

    Turn wipers on.

    Sheet of ice crashes sideways onto the driveway.

    Drive away.

    Win.

    Same here, I did look at a Audi but they don't have heat front windows. So picked the ford focus

    Mine usually consists of above, however instead of ipod its, get out and help OH clear her car. Heated side windows needed next.
