My camera's battery normally lasts quite a long time, you're right the failure is more often down to me forgetting to plug in the charger after a couple of late nights on holiday. But it's caught me out enough times that I like knowing I've always got a spare charged up I can use if I get caught out or while the other battery is on charge.

    Nice thread!
Slightly off topic but how do you guys calibrate your monitors and balance your images you see on screen with your print ouput?

@RabbieBurns - it's fairly interesting subject matter, I like the padlocks. But... the horizon is pissed and so it makes you feel a bit off-kilter!

POTN (photography on the net) forum for canon users covers everything you will ever need to know and they are very helpful.

Right after continuing to take blurry photos Im convinced there is something wrong with the camera and have booked it in for a service. I have given it to others to try and they all take blurry photos so Im sure its not just me.

Matt is not far off. I gave away the camera from end of June and have only just got it back. The recipient has been shooting some great shots in just Auto mode, but i have no reclaimed some spare time and am looking to revisit this subject.

Thanks to all of you whom have suggested books (I bought the Collins Complete Coure textbook) and thanks also to you who sent me on the path to tutorial by DVD.

I got through chapter 1 of the book and havent managed any of the video tutorials.

I have since bought a GoPRo to capture my snowboarding and scuba diving adventures; (see seperate thread) but I still want to learn the basics of the DSLR, so this thread begins a revival.

havent used this camera since last year but took it into the city tonight to take some photos at the 'Vivid' festival.

Shot in Manual, some of them turned out not bad

Nice. Is the blur a post production or the aperture setting?

Also, what is the scale of that, is it just a nice zoom shot of a wee uk house spider, or is it like one of the ones we get to play with here
