Sick of PPI and other nuisance calls on your mobile? I'm getting about one or two a day now and am getting royally brassed off with it.
Never fear though. you can now register your mobile number on the Telephone Preference Service for free! It take 28 days for your number to get fully submitted, but if you are like me then it may provide some relief to you.

1st March 2013, 04:56 PM #3 They never actually checked what sort of number was going onto the lists when people submitted them. My mobile number has been listed on the TPS list for over 18 months.
Disclaimer: I work in a call centre and have the TPS database to hand.

1st March 2013, 05:09 PM #5 You can also forward spam text messages to your network on number 7726 and they can do something about it.

Though many fones don't forward the origin number with a forwarded text due to lack of space

If you copy and paste the text and include the original number at the top you will be ok.

1st March 2013, 06:14 PM #8 This isn't new? I've had my mobile registered for ages. Still get the PPI messages
and report them on the ICO website without fail

You're right. It isn't new at all.
Is @Dos_Box getting confused between TPS for mobiles and the TPS website designed specifically for mobiles?
I thought the website for the Mobile Preference Service was mobileprefs.co.uk?

1st March 2013, 06:19 PM #10 I may be being dumb, but what does TPS actually do? As in does it screen calls, or is it more just a companies are supposed to follow rules kind of list? Yet can ignore if they want?

1st March 2013, 06:40 PM #12 Stuff TPS doesn't cover you for but you can report to someone:
Silent calls -> OFCOM
Automated Voice Messages (robocalls) -> ICO
Overseas telesales -> If the parent company has a UK presence TPS, Otherwise ICO.
'marketing research' calls -> Market Research Society (if the caller is a member otherwise you're out of luck, hello loophole! *cough*)
SMS Messages -> Without your consent, ICO.
Text Alerts (SMS to a land line) -> Talk to your phone provider.
