Obscene amounts of cake do not fit in...obscene amounts of proteinacious goodness (by way of the sis in law getting me a monster 32oz steak!)

When it arrives, you shall have it

Hope your going the whole hog? I would expect, nay, demand: Chips. Onion Rings. Corn on the cob. Coleslaw. Salad bowl. Peppercorn Sauce. Onion Sprinkles.
Maybe I'd go as far as making it surf 'n' turf with a side of Scampy or Sweet Chilli king prawns!!!

No...beef steak, from my local butcher (she is getting it at half price for my birthday present from them).

Do you know what cut of beef it will be?
While you wont have time to complete the whole process as your having it tonight, I would HIGHLY recommend preparing and cooking future steaks using the Heston method.

It basically involves air drying it in a fridge for 48 hours, then letting it come up to room temperature. Get the pan ultra hot and then drop it in the pan. After 15-20 seconds, turn it. Repeat this for about 3 minutes for a rare steak (3 mins 30 - 4 mins for rare/medium). It really comes out beautifully!
"By flipping the meat every 15–20 seconds, the steak will develop a crisp flavoursome exterior without being overcooked in the centre."

She said it is actually 26oz Rump (my fave cut after hangar steak, but thats more expensive than sirloin) as they couldn't accurately cut one to be 32oz, but hey, not complaining!
I blowtorch it on the outside then griddle it for 30 seconds each side on a screaming hot griddle. I like mine blue-rare.

I have an iron constitution, nothing gives me bad gas unless I have a stomach bug.
Had a tom yum soup the other night, and despite my face burning for ages, and my stomach growling for 20 mins, no other after effects!

Please find the steak prior to being cooked...put my own homemade quick steak marinade (Soy Sauce, brown sugar, all spice, chinese 5 spice), adds a nice crust and flavour to the outside of the steak whilst keeping the beefy flavour inside...my hand is there for size comparison!
