12... got caught out by the prepositional phrase and the active voice.

If that had been sent home with my child, all hell would have broken loose!

I actually struggled to read what was written! There isn't a single line that's right.
Whilst it has the hallmarks of a spoof, I can find no other reference to it other than where it came from. (It was posted by a Real Radio NW DJ - whose child received the letter!)

Agreed with regards to spelling, but correct grammar is an important part of making yourself understood. The same words in the same order can mean very different things depending on comma placement, so a good way of ensuring that the reader takes the same meaning as the writer intended is if they're both using the same standards.

Granted, you don't need to know what the passive voice is or what a sub-ordinate clause is, but you do need to know how to use them correctly and effectively.

I was taught proper grammar and spelling but I didn't have long lessons about it as @elsiegee40 did.
I think correct grammar and spelling is VERY important - it isn't easy to make yourself thoroughly understood, and be sure that someone really knows what you are saying, without it.
You wouldn't call a cable or other piece of tech kit by the wrong name, or use the wrong syntax or whatever when writing code, would you?

Bad spelling, and definitely grammar and punctuation could be deadly:

    For instance:
    Shall we eat Grandma?
    Shall we eat, Grandma?

Heh I got 12/14 and all "educated" guesses. To prove that, I got questions 3 and 4 wrong and by the looks of things the hardest 12, 13 and 14 right!
