Mine are about 10 years do now and show no sign of giving up just yet (one of the best bits of kit I've bought IMHO). They might be too heavy for some but I swear by mine. I could be wrong but I would hazard a guess that the new equivalent might not be as durable/good such is the "advancement" of the materials used.

    Ben
I had a pair of Scarpa SL's and found them too heavy. My current boots are the Mammut Mercury Advanced GTX. They are so much lighter, and so far the comfiest pair of boots i have owned! I could walk for days on end in them!

It all depends on how much you want to pay, and what manufacturer fits your feet best?!

So last year I treated myself to a new pair - funnily enough I went for North Face, can't remember the model name off hand, but they were the range up from the Hedgehogs.

Did a lot of all weather walking in them last year (inc Scafell Pike, Helvelyn, Blencathra), and they were great every time. can't comment on longevity yet, as it's early days, but initial impressions are very good.
