Odd question time...

Now this may seem a little odd but what do you call your department, as in the support side of it.

Our teachers are a little slow and when i sign any memo etc with IT Department they just take it to mean the ICT Teacher and our head wants to move away from that.

So he's asked me to call my department(totalling just me) by some other name, he suggested network support but i'm not sure.

Any ideas:P

Well, we have an ICT Department (Teachers, TA's, etc) and an IT Department (us lowly pond-life technicians) and we seem to manage....

ICT Support is best option that is what we call ourselfs here...

We call ourselves 'IT' or 'IT Support' if we want to give the full name. We're supposedly part of the tech faculty, but our remit is wider, covering the whole school, having 2 years ago enveloped technology.

See i'm with you both i dont see what is so hard to understand that IT support and ICT are 2 different things. Being the in same office and them being teachers i guess makes it hard for them to grasp lol.

We are called ICT Team but they have just changed our jobs to be ICT/AV technician so we now get involved with lighting and audio for plays etc in the hall

Whenever anyone asks for ICT, I send them to the ICT teachers... they generally come back pretty quick rather confused!!!

We love it when the new year 7's get sent up to the server room to see the 'ICT Technicians' and we tell them we're the cleaners...

We're 'IT Technicians' not 'ICT Technicians'!!!

As I've said I /think/ we were ICT services... but the C stands for communication and seeing as we had a lot to do with the phones, the website, dong powerpoint presentations for school events etc I think the communication bit was justified.

Everyone was just too lazy to say the C so it just defaulted out to IT Services anyway.
