need to lose weight badly, put on about a stone over the summer (planned to do a lot of cycle trips etc, but a car accident/bodged knee put an end to that), any tips for weight loss/building up exercise gradually? my knee is almost back to normal but still has some internal bruising.

To lose weight all you need to do it burn more calories than you consume. It's actually quite simple. Just start off adding some simple exercises to your daily routine and cut a few things out of your diet and work from there.

If you've got a poor knee then I would certainly stay away from running for the time being. Stick to low impact exercises like swimming, cycling, cross-trainer etc. Start off slow and just build up. Anything from 30 - 60 minutes 3-5 times per week should be plenty to help burn some decent calories. Also make little bits of effort throughout the day that you would usually avoid i.e. stairs instead of lift, go for a random walk etc. It will all add up

Diet wise just be sensible. Don't stick to some crazy low calorie 6 week diet because you will be miserable during and probably just gain the weight again afterwards. Eat little and often, plenty of veg and fruit, high protein foods etc. If you want to keep track of all your macros (macro nutrients i.,e. fats, protein, carbs) then download one of the apps and get logging.

I'm doing You Are Your Own Gym app/book atm along with low cal diet. You might be able to adjust some of the Leg Day Exerscises to acommodate your knee depending on how immobile it is.

My knee is getting a lot better, i had physio this morning and i was able to squat down on my one bad leg without any pain, but agian becuase the bruising hasnt gone down, it still hurts when it has pressure (it was a bad idea to get deep into a desk to reach the back of a pc on my knees the other day), but the ligament itself is a lot better, so i should be able to start within the next week or so.

tired from workout that work gave me (shifting 50 PCs down 2 flights of stairs was not fun) then shifting it from the ground floor to the van for collection.

Add in that last night I did some swimming and weights, and this morning I did an hour in the gym doing cardio...I am bushwacked!

Just started weight watchers becuase we had tried soooo much other stuff that didn't work, so thought it was time to invest money into our health.

Lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks (the first 2 weeks) just by eating what they said, but now not lost anything this week, so its time to pickup the pace and do some exercise, something which I really struggle to motivate myself to do, any useful tips for motivation? except the obivous - you'll lose weight.

    Thanks
