    Job References

I started looking for a new job, I waiting to hear about a call back to setup an interview this friday. I am trying to get my references in order, and since I dont want my current employer to know that I am job hunting, I thought of asking 2 of IT teachers in my highschool as references. Would this be a problem, also which category would they go under "personal" or "professional"

    Re: Job References

Usually prospective employers insist that at least one reference is from your current employer, and I take that to mean your line manager at least. (if that helps )

    Re: Job References

I agree with Mark, the jobs ive gone for have always asked for one reference from your current employer.

But i think its fair enough to ask them to request a reference only if you have been successful in the interview stage. This is what happened when i went for my current post

    Re: Job References

I agree with the if you get the postion, with them offering you the job as long as you get a sucessful reference from your current employer, it makes it a bit easier to be careful about the job hunting.

    Re: Job References

I think you should do both - getting a ref from a teacher who knows your work can only help. Then, as has been said, you explain that a reference is no problem once you have been offered the job
