School's out but we've got some staff in today preparing for the dreaded exam results. Just taken this call:
End User: My computer just went bang.
Tech_Guy: Just went bang?
End User: Yes, I was using it and it just went bang.
Tech_Guy: Bang as in bang?
End User: Yes. A big bang.
Tech_Guy: A big bang?
End User: Yes, a big bang.
Tech_Guy: Was there smoke or anything?
End User: Yes, and a big flash.
Tech_Guy: So your PC went bang with smoke and a big flash?
End User: Yes.
Tech_Guy: What were you doing on it at the time?
End User: I was changing the switch on the back from 230v to 120v I thought it would save electricity....

Actually, I have had three cases of this since I became a techie:
Two males and one female
I shall not get cross with the implication that women do this sort of thing (calm, think calm) because you and all the others know that men are just as likely to do this - in fact, often they are more likely to do things that involve interfering with physical settings on computers.
So, I shall rise above it all !
The best I've had so far is one of our male teachers dropping his laptop in the bath and trying to blag us by claiming not to know what had happened to it (his wife spilt the beans at the xmas party)....
Lol, even though these posts are in jest, I have to point out that I agree with you more then you know . I tend to think that on the whole, women have a LOT more common sense then men. Lol. Being a male, I can safely say this without fearing cries of sexismOriginally Posted by WITCH
However that is not to say that women don't have their bad points... lol.
I agree - some of the dumbest stupidest things I've encountered in the world of IT have been perpetrated by men....Originally Posted by _Bat_

I hope this pratt was not a teacher who should have known better...... :-)End User: I was changing the switch on the back from 230v to 120v I thought it would save electricity....
I bill the individual/department for this kind of stupidity. Soon wipes the smile off their face
