    The correct answer is "Yes".

But not for the reason they think.

I guess that is a tricky one to answer and the line is something everyone needs to decide and it depends on what area you live as well. One way to do it is to assume there is an Evacuation notice and you have 5mins to leave your home and you know there is no chance to get back within days or a week. What would make life easier during those days? Having a bag pre packed with spare cloths, small amounts of money, basic items and photocopies of paperwork would be a great start in my mind.

When you have to leave fast it can be the little things like having a spare jumper to wear in the cold that make all the difference.

Got tinned food and instant noodles in the cupboard, I'll be fine
@Pottsey has a point, though. It's never a bad idea to have a 'survival bag' packed in case of emergencies.. I might have to consider this. Not for the end of the world, because that's all phooey, but for other serious emergencies.

If the apocalypse does go full-steam-ahead, and I am amongst the millions that would undoubtedly die, I have a porn buddy. Everything's covered.

Anyway, we are well prepared but not for this nonsense about the end of the world but the coming Zombie Apocalypse. And it will come...

Even if all the humans disappeared overnight, hydro-electric dams can run on their own for a long time. [100's of years... I think.]

There would still be power for heating... and internet.

I saw this is some sort of what-if documentary thing a while back. It seemed legit. [It was called "Life after people"]

You're telling me you don't have a porn buddy??*

A mate who has the keys to your flat, your account passwords for home PC, and the ability to wipe your hard drive in case of emergency?

That's MUCH more important than a bag of food, and an extra jumper!!!

*Being a happily married man, I no longer have a need for this sort of thing.... But in the past....

Do you really want your Mum discovering your porn stash??? LOL!!!

Um - if the world actually ends, that is, ceases to be....an emergency bag won't help you, will it?

Maybe some time in the future my calendar gets sent back via some kind of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff and this is all a misunderstanding *tinfoil hat*

But if you make sure you have Duct tape in the bag then you can stick it back together and send it on its way. Thinking ahead you see!

    Get him! With pitchforks!

Alternatively, let's consider the fact that the Mayans, who believed the Earth was flat and carried on the back of a giant crocodile, probably didn't have some hidden secret to the universe we haven't figured out for ourselves by now...

If the world does end, it will probably because of too many people doing "Gangnam Style" at the same time and the earth will be thrown out of orbit and plunge into the Sun
