Really... You're going to pull out the old "virgin nerds" stereotype?

I'm not sure if I should prep or not... Logic says it's carp.

But I don't want to be the guy who gets caught unawares by it, in the unlikely event it actually happens, when we've had this much prior notice of it.

Itís always a good idea to have a ready made emergency bag that you can quickly pick up. Spare cloths, photocopies of impotent documents and other essentials. It is not a bad idea to have a box of long life emergency food as well. All cheap and easy to setup yet so few people bother as they think they will never need it.

Very true, but where do you draw the line as to what is needed. End of the world then who cares about copies of documents. Plus, knowing my wife, we will fill both cars with stuff we needed and still not have everything!

You call this an end of the world?

In my day we had proper ends of the world, with the four horsemen riding through the middle of town.

I get worried every year when my calendar is close to running out, but my parents usually get me a new one for Xmas averting total disaster. (I'm of the mind that the stone they carved the calendar on was a certain size, and if they'd been around now, another one for the 14th b'ak'tun would've been carved, or typed or whatever).

    Public reaction

The phenomenon has spread widely since coming to public notice, particularly on the Internet. Hundreds of thousands of websites have been posted on the subject.[99] "Ask an Astrobiologist", a NASA public outreach website, has received over 5000 questions from the public on the subject since 2007,[123] some asking whether they should kill themselves, their children or their pets.

    WTF!
