@RabbieBurns when my husband was working in Sydney a couple of years ago, he returned the day before we had a foot of snow down. He found the temperature difference very hard to cope with!

No snow here yet. 'Freezing Fog' this morning according to the MET office. Got a strange yellowish object in the sky at the moment... were all convinced it's aliens!

It's still -1C here. The sun has been out all day, but it's made no difference. The ground looks exactly as it did when I got up at 6.30am

Where my missus is from in Lithuania it's reaching -20 at the minute, and Schools aren't permitted to close until it reaches -25

Can you imagine trying to enforce that rule here?!

Freezing fog this morning, viability down to 100m (+/- 50m), when you can't decide to leave the fog lights on or turn them off for a few hundred yards knowing they will need to be back on. Counted no less than 5 cars with only sidelights on and 2 with no lights on at all. These people shouldn't be allowed to breed, never mind drive a lethal weapon!

Freezing here too but no fog. In fact the Sun has broken through the cloud cover. I may have to close the blind later today to allow me to continue to work.

These are today's weather warnings on the BBC:

    UK Warnings
    Weather Warning
    Friday 11th January

    YELLOW EARLY WARNING of SNOW

Rain will turn increasingly to snow during the course of Saturday across more eastern parts of Wales and the southwest Midlands, firstly over high ground, and later to low levels.

There is the potential for 5-10cm of snow to accumulate on ground above 200m, with localised accumulations of 2-5cm eventually at lower levels.

The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel.

Valid on Saturday from 1200 until 2355.

    Friday 11th January

    YELLOW EARLY WARNING of ICE

Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow will gradually clear southwards on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will then fall rapidly, leading to a risk of icy surfaces across much of Wales, the Midlands and southern England.

The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel.

Valid from 1800 Saturday until 1000 Sunday.

    Friday 11th January

    YELLOW EARLY WARNING of SNOW

It will turning colder through this weekend, with snow showers likely to affect eastern coastal counties of Scotland and England.

Amounts of snow are uncertain and are likely to be highly variable with some places seeing very little. However, 5-10cm could accumulate locally, particularly over hills above 200m, with icy surfaces an additional hazard.

The public should be aware of the potential for localised disruption to travel.

Valid from 1800 Saturday until 1200 Sunday.

    Flood Warning
    Friday 11th January

    FLOOD WARNINGS

There are flood warnings in force in the following regions:

    ANGLIAN (1)

    NORTHEAST (1)

Depends upon where you are. At the moment the Met Office are warning of sleet and snow in certain areas of the country. their highest concern currently is for icy roads rather than snow in those areas.

I've completely mis-read those warnings as "Early warning of yellow snow" :-)
