You are best off contacting @witch, a former IT recruitment consultant, and asking her to apply her red pen to it. She's the real cv guru on here
Over the years I've seen plenty of people ask for advice on their CV and they always get sound advice so I'm after the same pretty please
I'm toying with the idea of moving to the private sector, partly for better money but more for the career progression, so any help and advice would be much appreciated.
I've attached my CV, hopefully with all my info removed.
Thanks in advance!
CV - no personal info.doc
that looks very similiar to mine and that was done professionally.
id say its good, mine has a bit about me before current/previous jobs.
It is OK but you are missing a comprehensive skills list covering everything you have experience of, both tech and other.
Think about it - a company - especially if it is non-tech people doing the sifting - is looking for a person who has the experience on the bit of paper in their hand - they dont need to be searching for it. A skills list sitting directly in the middle of the front page, ordered to match the job you are going for, makes it a whole lot easier for the recruiter
Doing this also means you do NOT repeat yourself with the info on each job and can perhaps say other things
I would never waste space on a CV writing a personal bit - let's face it, all you are ever going to say is how great you are and it would be better put in a covering letter stating how you could do the job that they are offering, with examples.
I am a professional CV writer, @hardtailstar - I have a bit of paper to prove it, too!
(but currently I help for free - coming up to 80+ done now)
