Man to Man with Dean Learner is the funniest thing I've seen on TV this year!Originally Posted by webman
We've managed to acquire the first series on DVD so we've been revisiting it at lunchtimes over this hols. The series rings about 90% true to my experiences in the electronics industry and in schools. The office looks in about the same condition as ours, there are loads of traits similar in ourselves and all the oddbods I've ever met in IT support and the companies attitude towards the IT people is about spot on.
Can't wait for the new series - even my other half (who is a teacher!) can't wait as she too recognises the traits too. Frightening really.
I've just finished the first season again and ready and eager for Friday ...
I still get scared about how close the characters are ... not to me but to others I know ... erm ... honest ...
Sure you are thinking of "others" Tony Im up to date and ready to goOriginally Posted by GrumbleDook
I didn't want to name any names, John ... ;-)
And I would definitely now mention that Richard is are resident Goth.
And as for MauRICe ... I am not sure who that might be ...
I'll get my coat ... it's the one with the 'How to deal with Aunt Irma in techies' pamphlet in the pocket.
Heh heh... ta.. :-)Originally Posted by mark

They are quite funny and I was at a Exchange Traing Course when the Tutor put tjem. and all us nerds were sniggering... well laughing and the in-house jokes
Never got into this series. All the jokes are so cliche and old that I just did not find them funny. And the characters were more annoying than anything else.
But thats just my opinion.
Sorry but it was cack. I watched the first 2 episodes, in the first one a couple things made me laugh, but the second one I ended up switching off as it was too painfull to watch. I agree with the previous post, old jokes and bad characters. Unless of course it vastly improved after the second episode?
This is quite interesting... how many of you are married to (or going out with) teachers? I doubt it is just coincidence that you all work in schools. Lol.Originally Posted by NorbertBroadsword
As for the IT crowd... I thought it was quite accurate.
- Characters were a bit out of place (okay, for some of us only)
- The state of the office was accurate for most of us (a rubbish dump)
- The equipment in the office was pretty accurate (the pile of keyboards and old monitor that have been there for ten years, the signs all over the desks and doors (I'm looking at webman here :P) and the stack of components that are so old that some of them, you don't even know what they are)
- The location of the office was spot on (the place where no-one wants so the servers end up in there and therefore us)
- The "have you tried turning it off and on again" jokes etc. is spot on (we have all been there)
I could go on
What channel is this on??? I am all a bit confused...
According to my sky guide, IT Crowd is on tonight (thursday) on Channel 4 at 11:35pm. But it lists the episode as "Aunt Irma visits", which I am pretty sure was an episode from the 1st series
That was the last episode of the last season.
It is on tomorrow. Listing information here
Ah cheers...that will be why I didnt see it on tomorrows listing, I looked on tomorrow at 11:35
