To be honest been on sky for about seven years and it has been an excellent Service had the router fail dropping off occassionally but replaced in 48 hours and a problem with the line once for about half a day which turned out to be a BT problem but sky called these for me and have never had an Engineer from BT out so fast.

Wow my Sky BB has only been connected for an hour but I can tell a difference already, pages resolve at least twice as fast as they did on BT which is interesting.

Did everyone change the default admin password straight away, I take it Sky don't make a fuss about that?

That is exactly what happened here. BT's 0.8 Meg that dropped at least once a day became stable 3.5 Meg just by switching. I'm not sure why I fought with BT for so long!

I changed the admin and wifi passwords straight away.

I would ALWAYS advise you change your router password as well as your wireless SSID and its password.

Newer Sky and Virgin routers are configured pretty securely using WPA/WPA2, but you'll find there's a whole bunch of customers with older routers still using WEP. I come across this all the time.

I use my own router on my Sky Broadband. I just asked them for the username and password via the webchat and they gave it to me. I did tell them that I worked in IT Support and deal with ASDL lines at work, so I did now what I was doing!
Did the same for me but when I phoned with an issue they refused to help as their computer screen listed non standard device.

I got told that I need to keep hold of the Sky Router and connect it up if I contact Sky support

Sky have remote access built in for firmware updates etc so changing it doesnt effect them.

Sadly I think its too late to say this now but I would never move my line away from BT after hearing about the nightmare it can be to move back to BT although its possibly a lot better then it was.

Sky is truly unlimited so there is no throttling or limits without any hidden terms.

Although my sky broadband has been good for years lately there have been a lot of issues but I believe my exchange is overloaded currently.

Well so far I'm getting 13Mb down and 900kbps up and the annoying line noise (hiss) on the phone line that BT couldn't sort has gone so I'm pretty happy with that tbh

I have no desire to revert to BT whatsoever. Dumping them completely was the best thing we ever did!

3.8 bps down/1.4 mbps up has gone to 37.74 mbps down/8.4 mbps up by switching to fibre.

    Happy bunny
