I've got to sort out our internal domain name, but I can't think of anything good. [By good I mean slightly humorous and/or geeky]
Apparently, we HAVE to use the .Internal suffix.
I wanted to use "Aperature-Labs.Internal" with the server being "GLaDOS", but I'm not too sure. And I'm bad at spelling.
NOTE: Yes. Yes, I am allowed to give our network a silly name.
Le Pre-post EDIT: Holy bejeezus! Aperature Labs is a real company.

It's a bit long.
And is also a real company.
Lots of Vidyagaem nerds out there, it seems.

25th October 2012, 11:33 AM #4 Don't give it a silly name. You'll get bored of it. That said, we we named our SAN 'Daniel', but it wasn't legally registered. Karate Kid fans will appreciate the joke.

25th October 2012, 11:33 AM #5 .internal is a good idea as .local causes issues with Macs, iirc.
blackmesa.internal, in a similar vein. skynet.internal. matrix.internal may be too obvious.
in fact, do you have to use .internal, or just not .local? could have sesame.street and name your servers BigBird, Elmo, Oscar, Snuffleupagus...

I just hope you've not had the work experience kid wax it.

If we were keeping Admin and Curriculum seperate, I'd do that.
Black Mesa and Aperature Labs.

I said real. Not logical and/or not a scam.
But, I actually meant to link this. Seems legit-ish.

But which domain would you put Borealis in?
(and this is really petty, here, but Aperture. It's giving me a twitch seeing it misspelt)

Hense, why I'm asking for suggestions. I can't spell.

Stand alone Linux machine.
Part of both networks, understood by none of the staff.

Looks like the Japanese version of the Resi site, tbh, logo is the same - just differently coloured.
Skynet is out if you don't want to use real companies/systems, though, might confuse the UK military if you use skynet.internal.

Lost somewhere in an overly air-conditioned room? Perhaps the walk-in freezer in the school kitchen...

Then perhaps the whole Resident Evil series is a damning satire on the idiocy of users and how working tech support feels like being the only person in the city with a brain? WHO KNEW
