Done it loads of times but have no one but myself to shout at. Why make it the same size? And why make the apple mag power connector the same size too!?

Expecting teachers to do something as technical as plugging a thing in properly? Codswallop! "The USB keyboard won't plug in *whilst trying to put it into the firewire port*"

It's not always the "knowing what it's called" which is the issue. We regularly get people logging tickets along the lines of "My interactive whiteboard says 'No signal'", so they obviously know that an interactive whiteboard is called an interactive whiteboard. When you explain to them that their IWB is in fact working perfectly, you can just see them thinking "what is this crazy fool on about? There's no picture!!"

I never understood that one! The connectors are colour coded! Unless significant swathes of people are colour blind, I don't get it.

I wonder what would happen if you went full-troll and changed the green to pink. Would that revert it? Probably not, it'd go in the blue instead

If they grasped "Don't tell me in the corridor - log the problem" it would be a step forward.

I'd love to do that here, but we're only a small junior school (250 kids yet we have 2x HT's, 1x Deputy HT, 1x Director of Teaching & Learning and 8x SMT - I see why I'm paid diddly-squat, way too much management for a school of our size imo - anyway, I'm digressing. Seperate rant!) so it's all a case of "nah, we'll send the kids straight to you and you can come do it right away - whether you're clearly trying to mount a projector to the ceiling or not!" - helpdesk system would be shunted aside, so I just do my own 'worklog' sheet and fill it out myself. Pain in the rear but that's how it has to be for now *shrug*
