Tell that to the families of those who died to uphold the right to freedom of speech. Whose belief rights should take priority? Remember the US has separated politics and religion as part of its constitution. If YouTube take it down they then could possibly be liable for breaking the right to free speech.
Mind you, did the movie (haven't watched it as I've heard it's rubbish) break YouTubes t&c's in anyway? It's a bit like Rushdies 'The Satanic Verses'. 99.99% of those burning or protesting against it back in the 80's had never read it.
I had, well, I say I had. I gave up after 25 pages because it too was rubbish.

"Remember the US has separated politics and religion as part of its constitution" Have they? Constitutionally maybe, in reality I suggest not.

19th September 2012, 03:11 PM #18 A couple of random related points.
There is some discussion at the moment that if the video is taken down youTube is then moderating its content and that means it is no longer covered by the safe harbour except of the DMCA. This would mean they would be liable for ever copyright infringement.
The bigger question from me is what the heck is going on really?! This video comes from no where and causes this massive fuss. The video itself is made/instigated by a guy that has a very shady background. The filming was made under false pretenses as the actors were all led to believe they were filming a low budget reel about a comet crashing in the desert. They were then dubbed and are now terrified.

25? I don't think I got past page 5. I think the main danger with the book was that it was so dull you lost the will to live before you got all the way through.

20th September 2012, 01:49 PM #25 It's amazing so many people can riot and kill in the justification of religion when so few of those rioting and killing have seen the offending item. Just shows how little their religion has developed over the last millennium or two. And these countries wonder why they are classified as not fit to own nuclear technology.

There are plenty of Islam followers who don't riot and murder people, just like there are plenty of Christians that don't campaign to remove evolution from education and burn Korans. Dumb idiots exist everywhere but religion is rather easy to twist to ones own ends as it is all about telling people what to believe to start with, its not that much of a leap.

The main problem is these normal moderate Muslims of which I agree are the vast majority never come out and publicly denounce it.
If they did then the world would be a much better place I think.
There is a strange silence from them each time the next atrocity comes along and I really don't get why.

We need militant agnostics. That'd be a laugh.
