Can anyone tell me why?
Does anyone have anything good to say about them?

I am waiting for permission about what I can talk about but they were the best of the bunch.

Really people involved are still under nda at moment.
But Synetrix are the same people who run LGFL and no major issues with that as I understand..

That speaks volumes about the state of I.T in this country. Before anyone asks, yes I deal with the aforementioned company on a daily basis!Originally Posted by GrumbleDook

Ok ... that is twisting it a little ... 'best of the bunch' was probably not the right phrase to use and it is the last day and I am pushed for time.
What I can say is that none of the bidders would not have made it into the final stage if they could not deliver. The whole process was lengthy but thorough and it was fairly scored.
Whilst people may have individual issues with some of the companies involved some of these are not always issues created by the company themselves but by the LA or by what is written into the contract.
There are still lots of meetings happening over the coming months and I will dribble information out as I can. For the moment if schools are desperate to talk to someone then they should speak to their LA.
Also remember that this contract officially starts in April and that we have a transition period to plan and go through ... there will be lots of information flying around about that ... but it will be done so that there is as little ... or no ... disruption to schools.
You will have a better service in the end of it all.
I hope they do provide a good service for the EMBC. Maybe my people need to speak to the people from the LEAs where it works fine.

Which area are you in?
Network wise everything has been fine for us in around 30 primarys, its the service side of things where we have felt let down. Lets hope this new contrator can turn things around in that area.
Just out of interest, what is your connection with embc GrumbleDook?

One day a week I now work for the LA on things like RBC and Learning Platform procurements and implementation. I also do a few other things when I can find time.Originally Posted by nathan
I have been on the Northants panel as part of the EMBC procurement and will be part of various work streams as it all falls into place.
That's interesting, i kind of know they based in london or soth east region but didn't know they provided servies for LGFL.Originally Posted by russdev
Its fair enough about the NDAs etc as lots of things are still being negotiated. I'm slighly repeating myself again but i do hope they go for more of ISP with extra services role rather than we know what you want and this is what you are going to get. This would be slightly foolish as current EMBC did this and it didn't quite work out.
Options for larger schools would be big advantage with the flexibility in IP addresses (i.e. let the damn schools control what their IP subnets should be and if they want to vlan and go for multiple subnets etc).
Sorry had to get that in.
Ash.

I was at the EMBC tender presentation day and they were my choice for taking the region forward. Not sure if we are allowed to talk about what they plan to do yet though?
Well its not going hard for them to beat the current system. All our staff gave up on it. Totally useless.

Same here, and once we had some resembling a good service, everyone was hostile to it anywayOriginally Posted by Pottsey

One of my biggest gripes is the support, hopefully this will much better.
There will be some concurrent running from November, I think, and full switch over in April.
