Yes guys, i realise there no GPU, i already have one.
Gunna use my old one until either the occulus comes out, or i decide to go with an eyefinity setup.
I still have tonnes of old games to play before i consider new ones.
I.E Farcry 3 etc
Plus still need to complete GTA4........ this rig might be able to run the craply coded game at last xD
If I were you I'd spring the extra for 2 x 8Gb RAM to give you 16Gb. 8Gb is kind of the minimum these days. Also means that you can upgrade to 32Gb in a couple of years time when prices fall without having to throw out your existing memory.
Sure, you could buy an i7 for £340.. Or you could just buy the Pentium K for £50-something, stick it on an MSI z97 board and overclock it up to 4.5GHz. Plus, being the same socket, you could just slap an i7 in later on down the line (when it won't be setting your wallet ablaze) if it wasn't giving you enough oompf.
So what are you actually going to be doing with this pc? If it is just gaming then if you have a decent graphics card already, save yourself by sticking an i5 in rather than the i7. Later on you could upgrade it when their price comes down. But in my opinion, if you have a decent graphics card and your RAM isn't topping out then there is next to no difference in the CPUs while gaming.
I also agree on no need for optical drive. In my new build all the storage I have is 260GB SDD and that is it. Might eventually put in another if I need it, but I doubt it. No optical drive as I cannot remember the last time I used one.
Not long completed GTA IV myself. It ran like a dog on my old 4850 1GB - when I stepped it up to a 6870 1GB I could finally max it out at good FPS. Modern cards can make up for the shonky conversion.
Cheers guys, yeah its for games.
Like i said , i need an optical drive for my Old games, flight simulator etc
Plus, DDR4 and then new chipsets are out probably within the next two months...... so prices will dramatically drop :S
Might be worth waiting......
are going to increase soon. Better stock up! :)
