From Bedrooms to Billions - New Video Game Documentary
Being a big fan of retro-gaming (seeing as I was there man!) I was overjoyed to find out about this 'little' project. Essentially it is Kickstarted documentary about the British video game coding scene from 1979 - 1996 and looks like it will be quite something.
Their site is here: From Bedrooms to Billions - a film by Anthony & Nicola Caulfield (not live until the 27th Feb). And you can see some footage here:
I for one am jumping up and down in my seat with excitement! Apparently they approached some UK broadcasters to make the program and they were turned down as gaming is too 'niche'. Yeh, right.
Still, that didn't deter them and they raised over $35,000 to get the project off the ground and are soon to be using Kickstarter to raise more money for 'extras' such as securing music/footage rights and extra editing 'polish'.
Anyway, I wish them all the best and will be donating a few quid once their Kisckstarter campaign goes live.
It's an essential part of our heritage and as they say in an interview I've been reading in Retro Gamer it's essential they get this made whilst the main characters are still alive and can remember clearly what went on back in the early days of home gaming.
All the best with this guys (actually there's a girl - Nicola Caulfield - who's half of this!) I wish you well.
