As far as I'm concerned the N64 titles are the best, Ocarina of Time is the quintessential Zelda to me but Majora's Mask is one of my most fondly remembered games. I can still remember the feeling of "wtf" when I finally went to the moon and found... well, I don't want to be accused of spoilers, but if you don't know how that sentence should end then you need to get on the Virtual Console when you get home and sort your life out.

Wind Waker was ruined just because sailing everywhere was such a PITA. I'm fine with the graphics, but changing the field to an ocean was a bit dull, tbh.

...but then, I've never really played Link's Awakening, so it would be hypocritical. But I did find the Gameboy Color version lying around when unpacking my man cav at the weekend, so I might have to go back to taking a Gameboy round with me everywhere I go

I'm holding out on the 3ds remake. From the sounds of it, it's going to be after the new Zelda.

Alas, I have no 3DS, at least not yet. But I kinda miss holding a proper Gameboy. I found my original Pokémon cartridges at the same time, the temptation there was curiously strong.

You should play Majora's Mask though. It's completely insane and thoroughly haunting at the same time. And nothing else has ever quite matched the falling moon for sheer creepiness, especially the first time you get to Day 3 and see this filling the sky...
